3 Pillars of Personal Growth: Wisdom, Wellness, Wealth
Most people seek growth only because they are motivated or captivated by the beautiful part of growth.
They fall in love with becoming the best version of themselves, making more money, becoming fit- all these things stimulate the "shiny object" syndrome in terms of growth.
The moment resistance starts to present itself, people start to lose their motivation for growth. What was once was a big goal they dreamed of reaching slowly starts to stay as just a dream.
The biggest problem people face with growth is tackling the growing pains that is associated with their goals.
This is because most people also don't approach their growth in a holistic fashion.
I like to break personal growth into 3 different pillars: wisdom, wellness, and wealth.
When you spend too much time focused on one pillar, the other two begin to crumble.
You must understand how all three pillars play a part in supporting the foundation of your new found growth.
Let's begin.
Pillar 1: Wisdom
Wisdom is the better perception of life.
The more you can perceive life from other angles other than your own, the more wisdom you can obtain thus improving your own well being.
Wisdom is the head of the 3 pillars because though all three pillars work in unison, without a wise mind you will make unwise decisions that will lead you down a path of self destruction and not growth.
Luckily, in the new age we live in acquiring new wisdom is easier than it has ever been.
If you never liked reading, you can listen to audiobooks or even podcast. I personally used to not like reading as well, so audiobooks & podcast was the easiest way to expand my wisdom while on a 20 minute car ride.
You can also expand your wisdom by surrounding yourself with mentors or other people who's wisdom goes beyond yours.
You never know what experiences a person has gone through to become the person they are today, and it is their experiences and wisdom that shapes who they are.
Their experiences could be useful to you to help you find a cause to your own ignorance & expand your perspective to levels you couldn't perceive before.
The whole point of our human experience is to live, experience, create, and share our knowledge with each other to expand the collective human consciousness.
That in return helps you in your own personal growth journey.
Pillar 2: Wellness
Wellness is the next step in the sequence because as the age old saying goes, health is wealth.
Too many times have I seen individuals prioritize money or materialistic things in general and as they chase those shiny things, their health starts to crumble.
Some people call it "happy weight" when you make money, eat lots of food, and get all chunky.
This mindset promotes obesity and this will not help a person achieve better wellness in their life.
To improve your wellness and start transitioning to a healthier lifestyle so you can perform better in your life you need to focus on 3 aspects to healthy living:
Training
Eating
Sleep
Training is how you keep your body strong and in shape. You don't have to train to become a bodybuilder or the next Floyd Mayweather, but you should train your body up to being capable of saving yourself or someone your close to.
I used the word eating & not "dieting" because diets are not healthy habits. Diets are temporary fixes that usually lead people back to their old eating habits.
It doesn't matter how much you diet, if you dont heal your relationship with food, you our bound to continue the same poor eating habits you been making.
You don’t need to eat meat in every meal of the day, you don’t have to cut out carbs & become keto. What you need is to prioritize eating more whole foods, especially plant foods. This will help your body digest food properly and you'll be fueling your body with more micronutrients.
Sleep is one of the most important aspects of wellness because your body needs rest in order to build muscle, think clearer, and perform at your overall best each day.
I highly suggest including naps into your daily schedule if you're not getting enough sleep at night. There has been studies shown that people who tend to get power naps in the middle of their day have more energy to get more things done as well as reducing levels of stress.
Pillar 3: Wealth
To seek wealth is to do yourself, your family, and a world a disservice.
Wealth is how we grow as a society. It is like the blood that travels through our bodies.
When I say wealth, I'm not referring to money. Wealth is the combination of money, assets, network, and resources a person has at their disposal.
Money by itself can only get you so far because believe it or not there are some things money can’t by that influence and networking can.
To be wealth you have to break it down to the main 3 components:
Money: You make money by selling a product or service. You take the knowledge or resources you have that can solve a specific problem and market that solution to a target audience.
Assets: You acquire assets by investing your money into things that will make your money grow overtime or yields high value.(Gold, Crypto, Real Estate, etc.)
Network: They say "your network is your net worth" so it's important to branch out and meet people in and outside your interest. You never know who you may meet that can help you get into rooms that you couldn't get into on your own.
So what's the word Rasta Man?
The trinity of personal growth must be achieved in a holistic fashion.
Don't just focus on one aspect of this trinity, live your life in such a way where you are naturally striving to improve in each area.
The easiest way to incorporate this into your life style is by setting goals and planning your life in such a way that allows you to focus on what matters most.
